escaped from a plantation of the universe, an alien arrives in New York black leather, found home and work in Harlem, but is haunted by two robots. Low-cost independent film that has rightly famous far and J. Sayles who wrote and directed (by interpreting one of the two robots) gently ironic and satirical wit.
Brother from Another Planet film is absolutely unique. It is the only film of the last great fifteen years using the not science fiction to describe the loss of this kind, nor to "make a speech" the unconscious through a fairy-tale structure; Brother from Another Planet use gender as they used the great golden age of Hollywood as the most simple and effective metaphor for the present. In this way, all the fun inherent in the nature of this game, Sayles is able to offer his audience a moral age in which we live. Moral judgments that, given the climate of the times themselves, it quickly becomes political trial.
Sayles had found a simple, simple as all inventions, it is brilliant. He did not go looking for the alien into the darkness of the psyche or in the starlight. The English language itself gave him a foothold dazzling: the aliens , from a legal point of view, they are not UFOs, but immigrants, different. Here then is that the alien is simply living in another neighborhood.
If the "engine" of the film is therefore the traditional pattern of misunderstanding about the identity, the "gasoline" which advances the story is on the hunt to The Brother the two bounty killer space (one of which is ironically played by Sayles himself).
