SOLIDARITY 
The gentleman you see in the picture on the left is called Giorgio Devoto, 69 years old and until the day before yesterday was councilor for culture of the Province of Genoa as a representative of the Italian Communists . A few days ago, the President of the Province, Repetto, has decided to expand by opening the majority of the UDC and Devoted to replace the current president of the Provincial Council, Augustine Barisione (PD). Giorgio Devoto but I do not know right now (for those who read yesterday ) my friend Paolo Farinella priest (as he likes to sign) sent me an email in which he expresses all his bitterness over this decision. The first consideration is that I certainly Devoto has fulfilled its task in an egregious: it not only understands the words with which the President has "cleared" (that certainly sounds very pragmatic ) but also by some certificates of estimate that I found in Internet . The second is that Devoto is a publisher of fine poetry. Now, a person who devotes his life what Montale called an absolutely useless but harmful is almost never, to my eyes, deserving of any form of solidarity, affection and esteem (the lovely emails that I wrote). And if you also browse the catalog of editions it soon becomes clear that a publisher is a refined ... the ntellettuale refined and then ... an honest and fair : Devoto public, inter alia, my beloved Caproni, Silvio Ramat that I've had the good fortune to have as a teacher of Modern and Contemporary Italian Literature University of Padua and then Sandro Penna Franco Fortini and many foreign authors. I repeat: do not know personally Giorgio Devoto but it was enough to read by Paul Farinella
priest and browse its catalog of his publishing house
to have experienced a feeling of deep admiration and discomfort with these reshuffles
obeying purely partisan reasons and not meritocratic.
